Capacity Map

This map shows the maximum available generation connection capacity at nodes with a voltage higher than 1 kV in the i-DE distribution network.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

This map shows indicative values of available generation connection capacity at the bars of substations with voltage higher than 1kV operated by i-DE.

The capacity analysis has been carried out considering installations commissioned in the current year (included in the investment plan approved by the General State Administration), generation with granted access and connection permits but not yet connected, and access requests being processed (excluding reported reinforcements).

The capacity map has been prepared in accordance with technical criteria for electrical supply safety and quality established in current regulations, under both total network availability conditions and network element failure conditions.

The values shown in the capacity map exclusively refer to distribution network capacity and are subject to analysis of access requests from the transmission network perspective, where required.

The capacities listed on the capacity map are not cumulative, as they have been calculated individually. As generation is connected, available power at neighboring nodes will be limited accordingly.

Capacity of access at a distribution network node published on the capacity map is merely indicative, as it is subject to potential variations (due to changes in demand forecasts, new access and connection requests, or modifications to those under processing). The actual capacity of the network for each specific access and connection request will be determined after specific analysis of that request, according to the network situation at the time of realization.

The transmission network node indicated on the capacity map is the one primarily affected at the time of calculating and publishing this information. Such impact may vary based on modifications that may occur in both the distribution and transmission networks, either due to commissioning of new network facilities, inclusion of reinforcements in the existing network, or operational changes.

Information in the capacity map will be updated at a minimum monthly frequency.

Except in duly justified exceptional cases, access and connection requests not falling within the range of maximum and minimum power levels per voltage level established in the Resolution of May 20, 2021, by the National Markets and Competition Commission, for determining access capacity of generation to the transmission network and distribution networks will not be accepted.

Requests made for nodes where the published capacity is "0 MW" will be rejected, with provisions of Article 8.1 paragraph d) of Royal Decree 1183/2020, of December 29, applicable (20% loss of deposited guarantees).

Requests for nodes where the published capacity is "0* MW" will be accepted and informed with applicable reinforcements or denied based on the capacity analysis conducted by i-DE in compliance with current regulations. In this case, Article 8.1 paragraph d) of Royal Decree 1183/2020, of December 29, will not apply.

Requests for nodes where the published capacity is "0** MW" will be processed due to the major-affected-node contest in the transmission network, although the node has received requests exceeding the previously calculated indicative capacity available in distribution.

For other access and connection requests, if network access capacity at the time of making these requests is lower than the requested capacity, i-DE may propose reinforcements to increase capacity, in accordance with current regulations and at the applicant's expense.

Detail information is displayed at the substation level, so zoom in to that level and click with the mouse on the circles, which appear inside the graphical representation of the substation, to get the information.

Legend/Layers

It allows to activate or deactivate layers to display the information by voltage level.
At the level of Autonomous Communities and provinces, the numerical value inside the circle represents the estimated value of zonal or joint capacity, calculated as the optimal value of generation connection in a zone, taking into account the effect on adjacent nodes of connecting generation at a given point.
Below the province level, the value corresponds to the sum and is merely indicative to help locate substations on the map.
The value below the circle represents the number of nodes with available capacity for the considered layer.

Interpretation:

Knots with Capacity = 0 MW

No capacity at the time of publication of this information..

Knots with Capacity = 0* MW

Node without capacity at the time of publication of the capacity map, but which could have capacity as described in the corresponding methodological note.

The access and connection solution, the specification of the necessary reinforcements and the connection conditions will be determined for each access and connection request at this specific node.

Knots with Capacity = 0** MW

The node has received a higher volume of requests than the indicative capacity previously calculated as available for distribution, but requests continue to be accepted due to the fact that this node is in competition for the majority of the transmission network.

Relevant considerations:

This map shows indicative values of the generation connection capacity available on the busbars of the substations with a voltage higher than 1kV that i-DE operates.
The capacity analysis has been carried out taking into consideration the installations commissioned in the current year (included in the investment plan approved by the General Administration of the State), the generation with access and connection permits granted, but not yet connected and the access requests in processing (not including the reported reinforcements).
In the preparation of the capacity map, the technical criteria for safety and quality of the electrical supply established in current regulations have been applied, both in conditions of total availability of the network and in conditions of failure of a network element.
The values contemplated in the capacity map refer exclusively to the capacity in the distribution network and are subject to the analysis of access requests from the perspective of the transportation network in cases where this is required.
The capacities shown on the map cannot be added because they have been calculated individually, and as generation is connected, the power available in neighboring nodes will be limited.
The access capacity in a network node distribution published in the capacity map is merely indicative, since it is subject to possible variations (due to changes in demand forecasts, new access and connection requests or modification of those that are being processed). The real capacity of the network for each specific request for access and connection will be determined after the specific analysis of said request, according to the situation of the network at the time it is made.
The node of the transport network indicated in the capacity map, is the one most affected at the time of calculating and publishing this information. This condition is subject to possible variations depending on the modifications that may occur in both the distribution network and the transportation network, either due to the commissioning of new network facilities, or due to the incorporation of reinforcements in the existing network. or due to changes in operation.
The information contained in the capacity map will be updated with a minimum monthly frequency.
Except in exceptional cases, duly justified, access and connection requests that do not conform to the range will not be accepted. of maximum and minimum powers by voltage level established in the Resolution of May 20, 2021, of the National Markets and Competition Commission, which establishes the detailed specifications for determining the generation access capacity to the transportation network and distribution networks, which is detailed below:

The requests made on nodes in which the published capacity is “0 MW will be rejected, being applicable the provisions of Article 8.1 section d) of the Royal Decree 1183/2020, of December 29, on access and connection to the electricity transmission and distribution networks (loss of 20% of the guarantees deposited).
Requests made on nodes in which the published capacity is “0* MW will be admitted and informed with the appropriate reinforcements or denied depending on the capacity analysis carried out by i-DE in accordance with the regulations in force. In this case, the aforementioned Article 8.1 paragraph d) of Royal Decree 1183/2020, of December 29th will not be applicable.
For the rest of the access and connection requests, if the access capacity of the network at the time of such requests is lower than the requested one, i-DE may propose, at the expense of the applicant and in accordance with the regulations in force, reinforcements to increase such capacity.

METHODOLOGICAL NOTE 0*

Nodes with 0 capacity*

These are nodes without available access capacity at the time of publication, but they could obtain it subject to the execution of certain types of reinforcement by the applicant, provided there are no other constraints, which will be individually verified throughout the access and connection process. These requirements can both condition the feasibility of the reinforcements and require additional adaptation or refurbishment work on installations.

The general types of reinforcement considered for the calculations to indicate nodes with 0* capacity are as follows:

Transformer reinforcement:

The replacement of the existing transformer(s) that supply the voltage level where the 0* is located with new transformers of the maximum standardized power for the corresponding voltage level; or
The implementation of one or more additional transformers in existing installations to supply the voltage level where the 0* is located.

Line reinforcement, which includes:

The repowering of existing lines according to standardized conductor types or their reconstruction as multiple circuit lines; or
The construction of new lines in cases where, due to their length, layout, topography, etc., their execution is considered viable.

Cases where there is a dependency on the Transmission Network Manager that may condition the feasibility of reinforcements in the distribution network (existing or planned Transmission Network positions within the approved Transmission Network plan) must be individually verified in the access and connection process.

In all cases, the solution will always be conditioned by the execution of the proposed reinforcements.
